Survival analysis of the saw toothed beetle (Oryzaephilus surinaemensis) larvae infected with Beauveria bassiana on different date palm cultivars

چکیده
Survival analysis of Oryzaephilus surinaemensis larvae treated by different concentrations of Beauveria bassiana was investigated on Sayer, Zahedi and Dayri date cultivars. First, the risk and survival functions were determined. Then, the life table parameters associated with the age of the larvae was estimated and the difference in the effect of the fungus on the mortality and survival of the population were obtained on different cultivars. The results showed that at all concentrations, the survival function of the larvae was fitted with the Vibol model on all date cultivars. Similarly, the risk function of the Sayer cultivar had the most suitable goodness of fit with the exponential model. However, that of Zahedi and Dayri cultivars was appropriately fitted by logistic model. Moreover, the survival rate of larvae reduced by increasing the concentration of pathogen in the tested treatments. The maximum survival rate and increased risk ratio occurred at concentrations of 1000 and 5000 spores per ml. Therefore, with an increase in concentration at this stage about 50, 59 and 85 percent of larval populations were survived on Sayer, Zahedi and Dayri cultivars. During the period of 12 to 14 days, a gradual increase was observed in the likelihood of survival and risk ratio. Life expectancy, which is the result of the probability of survival and the risk rate, also showed a decrease as fungal concentrations increased. The slope of the variation changed at different concentrations and in general had an increasing trend as concentration elevated. The highest changes occurred between concentrations of 5000 and 1000 spores per ml, which was in accordance with the results of the risk and survival functions.
