چکیده
The western flower thrips (WFT) is a dangerous pest that attacks more than 244 plant species. This insect transmits extremely damaging plant viruses, and feeding by nymphs and adults induce a systemic, irregular ripening disorder. During 2017 and 2018, eight populations of this pest were collected from Tehran, Markazi, Alborz, Qazvin, Isfahan, Yazd (Yazd M and B) and Kerman and were maintained free of selection pressure to attenuate the resistance processes. Resistance of these populations to two common recommended insecticides, dichlorvos and abamectin, has been evaluated in two time periods: upon collecting and several months after maintaining in free insecticide pressure condition using green bean pod sections-dipping method. Except for Isfahan population as a susceptible strain, other populations showed moderate to very high levels of resistance to both dichlorvos and abamectin in the first bioassay. In the Alborz population, high resistance to abamectin (RF = 59.57 fold), was maintained with little change after 12 months (RF = 46.8 fold). Moreover, in Yazd M and Kerman populations, resistance was maintained with little change after 5 and 4 months without dichlorvos exposure, (RF = 2.14 to 2.12 fold and RF = 2.07 to 2.24 fold), respectively. Markazi population showed a significant fall in resistance to abamectin after being reared in the laboratory in the absence of selection pressure for 6 months (RF = 16.71 to 4.84 fold). The results showed that abamectin resistance in WFT is unstable. Investigation of resistance stability to insecticides is an important aspect in Insecticide Resistance Management and rotation approach.
