چکیده
The two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch is a major pest that feeds on more than 1,100 plant species. It is the most widely known member of the family Tetranychidae or spider mites and one of the most important pests responsible for yield losses of many horticultural, ornamental and agronomic crops. Use of agrochemicals is the most common method for controlling the pest. The goal of this study was to measure the susceptibility of different developmental stages of the mite including eggs, larvae, protonymph and deutonymph against etoxazole, acequinocyl, and flufenzine acaricides. First, T. urticae was reared on bean leaves at laboratory conditions. For obtaining the same age stages of the mite, 5 pairs of male and female mites were transferred to each leaf disc. The females were allowed to lay eggs for 24 h; then, they were removed from each experimental unit. Different concentrations of acaricides were applied to bean leaves or leaf discs (2 cm-diameter disc) determining their doses by Dose-setting experiments for each acaricide. Then the treated leaf discs were transferred separately in Petri dishes containing wet cotton swab. The exposure time was 24 h. All treatments caused significant mortality to all stages of T. urticae. Acaricidal activity against eggs and immatures was evaluated by acute toxicity bioassays. Concentration-mortality data were subjected to probit analysis by SAS software program. The LC50 values (mg a.i / L) were as follow for the acaricides for different stages:
Etoxazole (Baroque® 10SC):2.72 (egg), 9.12 (larvae), 8.66 (protonymph), 10.98 (deutonymph)
Acequinocyl (Kanemite® 15SC): 1.14 (egg), 0.33 (larvae), 0.47 (protonymph), 0.74 (deutonymph)
Flufenzine (Flumite®): 4.36 (eggs), 59.4 (larvae), 72.49 (protonymphs), 81.96 (deutonymphs)
The results showed that all tested acaricides had a high potential for controlling the pest, nevertheless, acequinocyl exhibited the highest efficacy against T. urticae.
