چکیده
Pistachio is a major agricultural product in Iran with a high export value. Among pistachio pests, Idiocerus stali (pistachio leaf hopper) causes severe damage to pistachio trees (Pistacia vera L.) and also makes it susceptible to other pests and diseases attacks. In this research, population fluctuation of the pest was studied through a regular weekly sampling in a pistachio orchard located in the collage of Agricultural and Natural Resources, Razi University, during 2018. Sampling was started from March and continued until November in each season. For this purpose, fifty infested trees were selected and four randomly selected twigs (each 20 cm long) were cut from each main geographic direction of the trees upon every visit and brought to the laboratory for examination under the stereomicroscope. Then, the average population counts of different pest stages at various sampling dates were estimated. The results showed that the pest had one generation per year in Kermanshah province. Moreover, overwintering of the pest was as adult insect under pistachio barks. The overwintered insects’ activity was observed in mid-March of the season. I. stali had 4 instar nymphs in Kermanshah condition. Also, means of the population peak of the first, second, third and fourth nymphal instars were recorded as 12.16, 17.26, 25.74 and 14.88 nymphs on May 20 and 27 and June 3 and 10, 2018, respectively. Similarly, means of the adults’ population peak was recorded as 22.86 in July, 1, 2018. The findings could be used in the local management and control of the pest.
