چکیده
The green peach aphid, Myzus persicae (Sulzer) (Hem.: Aphididae), is a very polyphagous pest with worldwide distribution that causes economic damage to vegetables such as bell pepper, Capsicum annum L., by inducing direct injury to the plants and indirect damage as a vector of virus diseases. In current study, impact of four micronutrients consisted of Manganese (Mn), Copper (Cu), Zinc (Zn) and, Iron (Fe) as well as control were evaluated on secondary metabolites in the plant leaves of C. annum and population growth parameters of M. persicae under greenhouse conditions set at 25 ± 5 oC, 60 ± 5% RH and 16:10 h (L:D). Based on the results, significant differences were observed in secondary metabolites of plant leaves and population growth parameters of M. persicae reared on micronutrient fertilized plants. The highest phenol content of bell pepper leaves was obtained on Mn treatment (541.23 mg/ml) compared to other treatments. The highest anthocyanin value was also recorded on Iron treatment (3.811 mg/ml) compared to other treatments. The net reproductive rate (R0) of M. persicae fed on plants treated with micronutrient treatments varied from 44.92 to 60.82 offspring individual-1 as the lowest and highest values on Mn and control, respectively. The lowest and highest values of intrinsic rate of increase (r) and finite rate of increase (λ) of M. persicae were recorded on Mn (0.286 and 1.332 day-1, respectively) and Zn (0.320 and 1.377 day-1, respectively) treatments. The longest value of meant generation time (T) was recorded on Fe treatment (14.07 days), and the shortest T was observed on Zn treatment (12.64 days). Thus, it seems, Mn treatment can positively decrease population of M. persicae under greenhouse conditions. This treatment can be helpful in ecological management of the aphid in combination with other tactics. However it should be performed in the future studies.
