چکیده
Recent advances have shed light on the role of plant nutrition on induced resistant to pests such as aphids. English grain aphid, Sitobion avenae (Fabricius) (Hem.: Aphididae), is an important worldwide pest of wheat due to direct sucking damage and transmission of viruses. In the current study, the effect of five treatments including; (a) wheat with a 6 day pest infestation period, (b) wheat grown in the field collected soil and then sprayed with Biomin zinc, (c) wheat seed treated with Probio96 (Bacillus subtilis UTM96), (d) a + b and (e) a + c, as well as (f) control were investigated on life history of S. avenae in greenhouse conditions (25±5 °C, 60±5% RH, and 16:8 h L:D). The life history parameters were calculated based on paired bootstrap test based on CI of differences using statistical software Twosex-MSChart. Different treatments caused a significant effect on biological parameters of S. avenae, which confirm potential effects of plant quality in induced resistance against this aphid. The shortest developmental time of S. avenae nymph was obtained on Biomin zinc (14.69 days) compared to that of other treatments. The shortest adult longevity period was recorded on a + c treatments (6.78 days) and the longest periods were obtained on control (14.77 days) and Probio96 (14.33 days), respectively. The shortest and longest adult pre-reproductive periods (APRP) of S. avenae were recorded on a + c treatments (1.0 days) and Probio96 (1.5 days) treatments, respectively. The shortest reproductive period of S. avenae was seen on a + c and a + b treatments (2.883 and 3.653 days, respectively) and longest values was observed on control and Biomin zinc (5.778 and 5.293 days, respectively). The lowest and highest daily fecundity of S. avenae were recorded on a + c treatments and control (3.83 and 7.77 offspring, respectively). The highest rate of nymphal mortality was equally recorded on Probio96 and a + c treatments (0.60%) and the lowest one was observed on control (0.12%). Our results indicated that Probio96 + Pre-infestation period (a + c treatments) provide an environmentally safe and an ecological control tactic for the pest on wheat.
