Comparison between esterase specific activity rhythm in aphis gossypii with and without diazinon treatment

There is a different specific activity (S.A.) in some enzymes same as esterases. In Aphis gossypii, S.A. of these enzymes, as a detoxification parameter, using α-naphtyl acetate and β-naphtyl acetate substrates were considered for comparison of circadian rhythm susceptibility in this insect with and without diazinon application. Both experiments were done under 16 hours light/8 hours dark (L:D) condition at six time points considered as zeitgeber times including 0 (24), 4, 8, 12, 16 and 20. The S.A. of these enzymes was three times more in the presence of α-naphtyl acetate compared to β-naphtyl acetate without diazinon treatment; but the fluctuation trends were almost the same. With diazinon application, though the trend still was similar but the S.A. of these enzymes changed in the presence of these two substrates. With α-naphtyl acetate application, the amount of S.A. decreased but at the presence of β-naphtyl acetate increased even a little more than α-naphtyl acetate. Totally S.A. of esterases decreased in the presence of diazinon, due to inhibition of some enzymes and the fluctuation trend of them changed because of stressful situation in the presence of diazinon. Also it seems that under stress conditions, i. e. diazinon application, some esterases that β-naphtyl acetate is more suitable substrate for them that are more active because of increased activity of them.
