چکیده
Surface Grasshopper, Chrotogonus trachypterus Blanchard (Orthoptera: Pyrgomorphidae) ‎is a polyphagous and the most important pest of field crops, vegetables etc. and caused ‎considerable damage especially during seedling stages in semi-arid areas like Sistan (Iran, Sistan ‎and Baluchistan, Zabol) region every year. We conducted this study in order to evaluate the ‎contact toxicity of methanolic extract from leaves of Eucalyptus globulus (Myrtaceae) againt C. ‎trachypterus in a completely randomized designs and factorial experiment with three replications ‎using topical application under laboratory conditions. Adult’s mortality was counted 24 h after ‎exposure. The results showed significant contact toxicity (at doses between 4.125 and 33 ‎mg/mL) and at the highest concentration, the mortality of E. globulus was 86.6%. LC50 values of ‎methanol extract, calculated through Probit analysis was 78.12 mg/ mL (P<0.05) after 24h of ‎exposure of adults. Based on our results, we can conclude that leaves extracts of E. globulus, ‎have potential for use in the integrated management of Ch. trachypterus in field. Due to the ‎adaptation and abundance of eucalyptus trees in different parts of Iran, including Sistan-‎Baluchistan province, eucalyptus leaves extracts, could be used as a new alternative to chemical ‎insecticides for control of Ch. trachypterus especially in combination with other tactics in an IPM ‎program in field crops.‎
