چکیده
Antlions (Myrmeleontidae) are one of the largest and most widely distributed families of Neuroptera. The family contains approximately 340 genera and 2000 species in the world while more than 200 species are distributed in Palaearctic region. Genus Echthromyrmex McLachlan, 1867 is a small genus belonging to the Myrmeleontidae, with a few species. During a study of the fauna of Myrmeleontids in Iran in Hayk Mirzayans Insect Museum (HMIM), some specimens which were collected from Hormozgan (Geno Mountain, 1500 m Alt., 6.Jul.1997; leg.: V. Nazari, 4♂ & 1♀) and Lorestan provinces (Malavi, Shahabad, 12.Aug.1968; leg.: Mirzayans & Mortazaviha, 1♀) were identified as: Echthromyrmex sehitlerolmez Koçak & Kemal, 2008. The identification was confirmed by the first author of the species, Prof. Dr. Koçak through comparing the specimens with the type material (females only). The examine material are deposited in HMIM. This is the first report of the species for Iran insect fauna. E. sehitlerolmez has already been reported from Turkey; while, E. platypterus McLachlan, 1867 was reported from Iraq as type species, and also from Afghanistan and Iran (Fars and Yazd provinces). E. platypterus and E. sehitlerolmez are large species. Their wings have brown spots, particularly a large sinus shape spot in the hind wings. The two species can be diagnosed by morphological differences in their paramers of the male genitalia and some details of wing pattern.
