چکیده
Poplar trees (Populus spp.) have worldwide use in landscape and agriculture but different phytophagous insects attack these trees. Our recent study showed a local population of Populus nigra L. in Sarab- southeast of East-Azarbaijan province- was seriously infested with blotch leaf miner. At the end of June 2016, damaged leaves of poplar trees, were observed and collected. After laboratory rearing we obtained some Tenthredinidae wasps that was identified as Fenusella hortulana (Klug, 1818) by first author and was confirmed by Dr. A.D. Liston (Senckenberg Deutsches Entomologisches Institut, Müncheberg, Germany). It is widely distributed in the West Palaearctic, e.g. Europe, Turkey, and North Africa, and has been recorded east to Kyrgyzstan. This is the first report of its presence in Iran and serious local damage on P. nigra. The known hosts are Populus spp., usually P. nigra or its cultivars. Diagnostic features of identified as F. hortulana are briefly reported below: clypeus, labrum, and mandible whitish; thorax with pronotum, tegula, mesepisternum, and two spots on the mesoprescutum light orange; legs light orange (except sometimes bases of coxae); and abdomen black except sometimes pale apical margins of segments. Specimens are deposited in the Department of Plant Protection, East-Azarbaijan Research & Education Center for Agriculture & Natural Resources, Tabriz, Iran.
