چکیده
The predatory bug Macrolophus pygmaeus is a carnivorus predpredator and it has considered in biological control of herbivore insects. In this research, life table parameters and predation rate of this predator when fed by the eggs of Tuta absoluta and Ephestia kuehniella were estimated at 25±1°c, 65±5% and 16:8 (L:D) with 60 replication on clipped tomato leaf. The pods of green bean Phaseoulus vulgaris served as oviposition substrate and the moisture source. Data analysis carried out using two sex MS-chart method. Pre-adult developmental time of predator by feeding on T. absoluta and E. kuehniella estimated 28.4± 0.13, 27±0.14 days (for females) and 27.44±0.24, 26.81±0.2 days (for males) respectively. Adult longevity calculated as 16.85±0.54, 21.28±1.54 (females) and 19.81±0.65, 23.55±1.34 days (male) respectively, while the fecundity of the predator were estimated equal to 12.7±1.6, 28.56±2.95 (nymph). The intrinsic rate of increase (rm) for the predator by feeding on the eggs of T. absoluta and E. kuehniella recorded 0.041±0.005 and 0.070±0.004, as well as the finite rate of increase (λ), 1.04±0.005 and 1.07±0.004 respectively. Furthermore, the net reproductive rate (R0), 4.23±0.72, 11.9±1.68 and generation time (T) calculated, 33.49±0.17 and 34.89±0.19 days respectively. Findings of the present study indicated that the predation on the eggs of T. absoluta decreases nearly all life table parameters of the predator. The size and the nutritional contents of the eggs may cause the differences, meanwhile the predator is able to fulfill its life on the eggs of T. absoluta nearly at the same generation time, which make it a suitable candidate for utilization in the biological control.
