چکیده
The common pistachio psylid, Agonoscena pistaciae Burckardt and Lauterer (Hemiptera: Aphalaridae), is a key pest in pistachio orchards. Chemical control is the most effective and accessible method to control this pest. But, chemical insecticides have multiple disadvantages and plant-derived compounds can be alternatives to them. Therefore, in this study, the toxicity of two plant extracts from A. millefolium and C. copticum were tested against fifth instar nymphs of A. pistaciae. The trials were conducted under laboratory conditions (25 ºC, 55 ± 5% R.H. and 16:8 (L: D) photoperiod). Responses of fifth instar nymphs of A. pistaciae to different plant extract concentrations were determined using a dipping bioassay technique. The mortality rate showed that A. millefolium and C. copticum extracts were effective on A. pistaciae mortality percentage. Mortality of 5th instar nymph was significantly increased with increasing concentrations of both plant extracts. The prevalence of mortality was similar with each insecticide. Probit analysis of concentration-mortality data was conducted to estimate the LC50 value. The results showed that C. copticum (LC50 = 749.95 ml/L) was more toxic to fifth instar nymphs of A. Pistaciae in comparison to A. millefolium (LC50 = 914.33 ml/L). According to LC50 values, no significant differences were observed between C. copticum and A. millefolium 24 h after treatment. Our results suggest that extracts of A. millefolium and C. copticum are suitable potentially compounds to control of A. pistaciae.
