چکیده
Citrus leaf-miner, Phyllocnistis citrella Stainton, is one of the major pests of citrus in Khuzestan and make a lot of damage, especially in nursery stock and young trees. Use of resistant plants is one of the main strategies for integrated management of this pest. In current study, orchard was established with six species citrus species as follow were investigated: orange (Citrus sinensis L.), sweet lemon (C. limetta L.), tangerine (C. reticulata Blanco), sour orange (C. aurantium L.), key lime (C. aurantifolia L.) and grapefruit (C. paradise Macf.). Sampling was done during spring and four randomly infected 10 cm long twigs from each tree were selected as sampling unit and covered with a sleeve trap. The duration of larval and pupal stages, number of eggs, larvae, pupae and adults insect were recorded at the end of each generation. Due to effect of citrus species on pest biology parameters, some levels of resistance were observed. Results of this study showed that there were significance differences between species in terms of larvae and pupae stage period (P < 0.001). The duration of larval period on some fruits such as orange, key lime, sour orange, grapefruit, sweet lemon and tangerine were 11.75, 8.75, 8.25, 8.00, 7.50 and 6.50 days, respectively. Pupal duration was 5.00, 7.50, 5.25, 11.60, 6.75 and 5.25 days on the above mentioned fruits, respectively. Leaf-miner larvae had the highest duration period on orange, while the pupae duration was shorter on orange than on other species; however pupal duration on orange was statistically grouped with the other species except grapefruit. The number of pest different life stages was highest in orange fruit (eggs: 10.75, larvae: 10.25, pupae: 9.75 and adults: 9.25) and the lowest number was observed in sweet lemon (eggs: 4.75, larvae: 4.00, pupae: 3.50 and adults: 3.50) (P < 0.001). It appears that grapefruit and sweet lemon were more resistant to leaf-miner damage than the other species, so cultivating of these two species can be suggested in infected areas.
