چکیده
Cucumber is one of the most important greenhouse products in Iran, so that from the seven thousand hectares of greenhouse vegetable crops, about six thousand hectares belong to cucumber. Lepidopteran pest infestation of economically important plants is a menace to farmers all over the world. The larval stages of lepidopteran pests cause huge economic losses in the cucumber greenhouses. Lepidoptera consist about 10 percent of all known species in the animal kingdom and 16 percent of all insects. So far more than 146,000 Lepidoptera species have been identified all over the world. To identify the lepidopteran pests in cucumber greenhouses at southern regions of Kerman province, several samplings were carried out in the cities of Jiroft (three greenhouses), Kahnooj (three greenhouses), Anbarabad (three greenhouses) and Faryab (one greenhouse), during 2016. Samplings were carried out at the end of the season, that pesticides were not used. The larval stages of lepidopteran pests along with plant parts were collected and reared under laboratory conditions at 27±1°C, 60–80% RH, and 16:8 (L:D) photocycle period in transparent plastic containers (15×10×10 cm). The larvae were fed daily with fresh leaves of cucumber until the adults of insects appeared. Samples were identified by the fourth author (H.A.). Four moth species were reared and identified as: Spoladea recurvalis (Fabricius, 1775) (Crambidae), Chrysodeixis chalcites (Esper, 1789) (Noctuidae), Diaphania indica (Saunders, 1851) (Pyralidae) and Helicoverpa armigera (Hubner, 1808) (Noctuidae). Among them population and damage of D. indica was higher than other three species. After that, the abundance of S. recurvalis, C. chalcites and H. armigera were high, respectively. The specimens were deposited in the collection of Department of crop protection, Vali-e-Asr University of Rafsanjan and Iranian Research Institute of Plant Protection, Tehran.
