چکیده
Neoseiulus barkeri Hughes is an effective predatory mite which can be used in control of the spider mites. The prey-stage preference of N. barkeri feeding on different plant pollens (date pollen, walnut pollen and corn pollen) was studied on different developmental stages of Tetranychus urticae Koch. Functional response of adult female of N. barkeri on eggs and protonymphs of T. urticae was determined. Experiments were carried out on strawberry leaflets in Petri dishes in the laboratory. The functional response of three-day old mated females feeding on different plant pollens was studied. These tests were conducted under laboratory conditions (27±1˚C tempature, 16L: 8D h photoperiod and 70-80% RH). The protonymph and deutonymph of N. barkeri preferred T. urticae eggs to protonymphs. However, the female predatory mite preferred protonymph of T. urticae. The preference index of the predatory mite on different diets did not any significant difference. The predatory mite exhibited a type Π functional response on different diets tested. The attack rate (a) and handling time (Th) of predatory mite fed on different pollens were estimated on date pollen )0.18±0.01 and 0.22±0.05 hours(,walnut pollen )0.17±0.02 and 1.02±0.14 hours( and corn pollen )0.10±0.09 and 1.36±0.22 hours(.The handling times are different (the highest value obtained for the predator fed on corn pollen (1.36±0.022 hour) on eggs of T. urticae and the lowest were reported for predatory mite fed on walnut pollen and date pollen. The efficiency of the predatory mite fed on date pollen is better than the other predatory mites that fed on walnut pollen and corn pollen.
