چکیده
Trichogrammatidae is a well-known group of parasitoids worldwide. Investigations on the sperm structure of these parasitoids are very helpful in phylogenetic and taxonomic studies. A light microscopic morphology of sperms in Trichogramma brassicae Bezdenco is presented. The insect samples were collected from the tomato fields located in Alborz province, Iran. The clean glass microscope slides were stained with 2% (w/v) aceto-orcein. The sperm sample preparations were observed by Olympus CCD monochrome camera XM10, coupled with Zeiss Axioplan 2 fluorescence microscope. Spermatozoa length was ranged from 85.11 to 171.89 µm. The spermatozoa were distinctively long and slender. The head (11.03- 12.41 µm length) of the sperm composed of the acrosomal and nuclear regions while the remaining part was considered as the tail of the sperm. The results indicated a similar sperm structure of T. braasicae to other Trichogramma species. The characteristic description here can be useful to help phylogenetic interpretation of sperm evolution in different species of Trichogramma.
