چکیده
Of Trichogramma species, the greatest dispersion has been determined in Trichogramma brassicae Bezdenco (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) in Iran. The mentioned parasitoid is released against various pests in the different cultivation including rice, corn, tobacco, soybean, and tomato. Awareness of the characteristics affecting its fitness, such as body size, can be helpful in biological control programs. In the present study, forewing areas of three populations collected from the provinces Azerbaijan, Golestan and Alborz were compared with each other. In order to reach the goal, the slides were prepared from right forewings of 10 adult females. The software ImageJ was used to take photos of forewing areas in pixel scale, and the data was submitted to ANOVA by using the software R and group differences were compared by Tukey post hoc comparisons. The results revealed significant differences among forewing areas in three various populations (F= 13.85; df= 2, 27; P<0.001). The highest and lowest of forewing areas were for Golestan and Azerbaijan, respectively (mean= 247313, 214506). Further investigations are needed to reveal the correlation between forewing area and biological control characteristics of this species.
