چکیده
A Eurytomidae species was obtained in a study performed on phytophagous species. This study was done in the northwest of Iran, East-Azarbaijan province, Marand (Mishab Mountains) during 2012-2016. Some specimens were reared on Salvia sp. (Lamiaceae) that includes to the genus Systole Walker, 1832. It was identified as Systole nikolskayae (Zerova, 1968). This species is new record for Iranian fauna. This species has been reported from Bulgaria, Serbia, Ukraine and former USSR as seed-eater of some species of Salvia including S. aethiopis L., S. illuminata Klokov, S. nemorosa L., S. nutans L., S. silvestris L. and S. verticillata L.. Only four species of Systole have previously been recorded from Iran: Systole albipennis Walker, 1832; Systole coriandri Gussakovsky, 1933; Systole foeniculi Otten, 1941 and Systole eremodauci Zerova, 1994. This is the fifth species of the genus in Iran. Some of most important characters of S. nikolskayae are as follow: Body short (1.7-1.9 mm); thorax and abdomen short and convex; head wider than thorax in dorsal view and wider than height in frontal view, clypeus truncate; antennae very short, scape about 4× longer than wide, F1 narrow basally and longer than wide, F2-5 distinctly wider than long; marginal and postmarginal veins as same length of stigmal vein. The species is close to S. cuspidata Zerova, 1970 and S. salviae Zerova, 1968; however it differs with more flattened sculpture of the thorax, markedly few pubescence, short abdomen, not bent up ovipositor, and venation of the fore wings. . Specimens are deposited in the Department of Plant Protection, East-Azarbaijan Research & Education Center for Agriculture & Natural Resources, Tabriz, Iran.
