چکیده
The desert of Sindh harbors a very rich Orthoptera fauna but our knowledge about the wealth of Thar is very poor. Presently, an extensive survey of Thar was carried out in order to examine abundance, species, diversity and species composition of califeran in this region. A total of 25 species that include: Hilethera aeolopoides, Aiolopus thalassinus thalassinus, A. thalassinus tamulus, Sphingonotus (Sphingonotus) rubescens rubescens, S. (Sphingonotus) savignyi, Trilophidia annulata, Locusta migratoria, Ochrilidia geniculata, O. gracilis gracilis, Heteracris littoralis, Eyprepocnemis alacris alacris, Acrida exaltata, Truxalis eximia eximia, T. fitzgeraldi, Anacridium aegyptium, Tropidopola longicornis, Spathosternum prasiniferum, Chrotogonus (Chrotogonus) homalodemus homalodemus, C. (Chrotogonus) trachypterus trachypterus, Poekilocerus pictus, Atractomorpha acutipenis blanchardi, Pyrgomorpha (Pyrgomorpha) bispinosa bispinosa, P. (Pyrgomorpha) bispinosa. deserti, Tenuitarsus orientalis, Dericorys tibialisof grasshoppers representing by 17 genera and 8 sub-families were examined. It was also noticed that Pyrgomorpha bispinosa deserti and Acrotylus humbertianus was reported in greater numbers and rare numbers of Ochrilidia gracilis gracilis were captured. It is expected that its correct identification may be led to discovery of new taxa in future. The grant received from Higher Education Commission Islamabad HEC No. 20-6737/HEC/R&D/2017 is highly acknowledged.
