چکیده
Pathogenicity of Beauveria bassiana Bb-202 and Isaria fumosorosea strainIfu-13a was analysed on Bemisia tabaci in the laboratory and in the glasshouse condition. The optimized concentration of 1×107 conidial/ml was obtained after initial laboratory bioassay for glasshouse experiment, as 100 and 80% cumulative mortality was noticed in the I. fumosorosea and B. bassiana treatment in the laboratory condition, respectively. Therefore, the same conidial concentration was sprayed on the cucumber plants infested with B. tabaci in glasshouse condition. Results revealed a strong pathogenicity in B. bassiana imposing 41% decline in insect population. In contrast, there was about 105.3 and 461.4% increase in insect population in I. fumosorosea, and control treatments after 18 days post treatment. Findings proved that the environmental factors posed a great influence on fungal pathogenicity of fungal strain. As fungus I. fumosorosea was more pathogenic compared with B. bassiana species in the laboratory, whereas, B. bassiana showed more adoptability to the environmental conditions. Therefore it is strongly suggested that high environmental stress resistance of a fungal strain should be carefully considered in a commercial strain selection, to get better control of insect pests.
